Ordinary membership shall be open to serving officers of the merchant marine of good character without criminal records.

Associate membership shall be open to non-serving officers of the merchant marine of good character without criminal records.

Life membership shall be open to officers who have been members for 10 years or more who has retired on account of age or ill or incapacity.
